Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward will speak to shareholders today as the search for a new manager nears its conclusion. United's three-quarter results were released to the New York Stock Exchange at lunchtime, with Woodward hosting an investors' conference call at 1300. He and Ryan Giggs have held talks with Louis van Gaal in the Netherlands. Van Gaal will sign a three-year contract to take over as manager, with his work due to begin immediately after the Netherlands' World Cup campaign is over. Media reports suggested an announcement about him taking the role could be made prior to Woodward's scheduled conference call on Thursday.
